About Gecko Gearz:

Hi, I'm Penny Betts, the founder of Gecko Gearz.

I am proud to be one of the longest running stores in the gorgeous seaside town of Kaikoura, New Zealand - where the mountains meet the sea.

​I focus on ethical fair trade products with a natural, vibrant look. My range is made from nature's finest - organic cotton, bamboo, rayon, voile, viscose, wool, merino and possum.

​I support Ethical trading and socially responsible choices have been at the forefront of Gecko Gearz ethos since back in 1999. 

​My passion and commitment to human rights has shaped how I operate.

Skilled artisans, social and economic development, conscious collaborations, safe work places, and thriving prosperous people are important to me.

​I regularly travel to Nepal, Bali and Thailand to work with my artisan makers and I bring you ethically produced fashion, accessories and homeware that are handmade. This in turn supports the people of these countries to earn a fair living wage.

​New Zealand is a lucky country, by buying fair trade ethical products with us online you are helping to bring financial equality to the rest of the world.

​My long-term goal is to give back 10% of sales to make a difference in Nepal where some of our beautiful products originate from. More recently Gecko Gearz also donated towards the Nepal earthquake recovery.
